This weekend we went to Monterey and went on a whale-watching trip. It was a fairly nice day and the water wasn't too rough. We found several groups of gray whales. The marine biologist on board said the whales don't eat for three months during their migration from Alaska to Baja. I think I'm going to start marketing a new diet... "The Gray Whale Diet: Eat whatever you want for 9 months.. then don't eat for 3!"

We didn't actually see a lot of the whales themselves, mostly their "blows" (the water spouting up). We did see one tail fluke, and a few whale backs here and there. Seeing even a tail fluke was actually very exciting. I would've loved to have seen some dolphins but no luck this time.
