A couple of weekends ago we went to Safari West, a wild animal park in Santa Rosa. Hard to believe it's only a couple of hours from our house. Is a 400-acre park, established in 1979. They have a few small enclosures with exotic birds, lemurs, and cheetahs, and a huge open space with herbivores--zebras, antelopes, buffalo, etc. We took a bumpy Jeep tour and got quite close to the animals. It was a pretty hot day and at times you almost did feel like you were in Africa. The Jeeps are very old, used by the Army in the Korean and Vietnam wars.
