A couple of weekends ago we went to Safari West, a wild animal park in Santa Rosa. Hard to believ
e it's only a couple of hours from our house. Is a 400-acre park, established in 1979. They have a few small enclosures with exotic birds, lemurs, and cheetahs, and a huge open space with herbivores--zebras, antelopes, buffalo, etc. We took a bumpy Jeep tour and got quite close to the animals. It was a pretty hot day and at times you almost did feel like you were in Africa. The Jeeps are very old, used by the Army in the Korean and Vietnam wars.I posted pictures on Flickr. I also put up a short video, which isn't the most exciting video ever, but it will give you a little flavor for what the Jeep tour is like. It shows some Cape Buffalo.
