On Sunday we took a hike to the Pulgas Water Temple. It was built in 1934 and is a monument to the water brought all the way from the Hetch Hetchy resevoir. It's about an hour (at a leisurely pace) from our house. We started at Hallmark Park , walked on part of the cross country course, got on the Sheep Camp Trail, went under 280, rejoined the trail to Canada Road, then walked down about 1/4 mile to the Water Temple.

On Sundays Canada Road is closed (pedestrians and bicycles only) and lots of people were out enjoying the beautiful weather.

Photos can be found on my Flickr site. (Note: if you want to see the captions, don't view it in slideshow mode.)

Ya know, I saw the pics and that looks just like a temple that you can see as off to the right as you're headed on 680 southbound just past highway 84 before you head up the Sunol Grade (it's smack in the middle of this image: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=san+mateo,+ca&ll=37.585237,-121.885747&spn=0.006289,0.007410&t=k&hl=en )

Any idea what the heck that is?

Hah, Google is my friend... That's the Sunol water temple (http://www.elivermore.com/photos/water_temple.htm) Looks to be pretty interesting. I'm going to have to take a ride out there sometime.
