One of the projects I've been working on for over a year finally went live.. if you live in the San Francisco Bay Area, you can dial 511 from most any phone and get traffic updates, and public transportation information, using speech. It's a free call, but right now it doesn't work for all phones; Verizon cell phones, for example, and not all office PBXs have had 511 enabled yet.
If you're not in the Bay Area and are curious, you can also dial 1-888-500-INFO, though it may not work everywhere.
It's really exciting to have worked on something for so long and to see it actually go live. I hope people find it useful.
