Last night I used a fire extinguisher for the first time. It wasn't an emergency--Chris and I are taking classes for CERT, Community Emergency Response Team. It's a free series of eight classes that teach you basic disaster response skills, fire safety, etc.

This time we met at the fire station and after a lecture from one of the firefighters, went outside to try out the extinguishers. They have a cool device that can start a (contained) fire for you to put out.

It's not that using a fire extinguisher is that difficult, but it was nice to know I'll be able to do it should the need arise.
