Sometimes we play the TV through the stereo. I used to scoff at this, but actually I think the sound when people are speaking is a little clearer this way.

Sometimes when we turn off the TV, we forget to turn the stereo off. We also have TiVo. Usually when we turn off the TV, we've left it in list mode (for those without TiVo--that means the screen is showing a list of shows you have available to watch). But TiVo has a built in screen-saver feature (at least I assume that's what's happening), which means it won't let the screen sit on the list menu, but will switch over to live TV.

If the stereo is off, no big deal. But if the stereo is on, strange noises will suddenly be coming from the family room. The first time this happened we were upstairs in bed, and we heard noises. "Must be the neighbors," we grumbled. "Why are they making so much noise so late at night?" Eventually it dawned on us it was in fact coming from inside the house. Oops.

Last night, we were coming downstairs to watch 24 (on TiVo time delay of course--no more live television in this house). We heard noises again. It was in the middle of 24! Not wanting to have the plot spoiled, we ran down the stairs making loud monkey noises to drown out the TV. The fun never stops!
