The interesting part about this story about clubbing seals is the third paragraph:

He said animal rights activists fail to mention that Canada closely regulates the seal harvest and that only one in 10 seals is clubbed; the rest are shot.

Well, that's a relief! (Link from Crabwalk.Com)

I was thinking about comedy today, specifically, about a line in the Simpsons that really cracks me up. It's the episode where Homer gets sent to a small island in the Pacific as a missionary, and Bart has to go to work at the nuclear power plant. Bart's sitting at Homer's desk and Mr. Burns come in to berate him. He reads off a list of grievances and then says, "And worst of all, you took the Hamburgler's birthday off last Monday *and* Wednesday. Which is it?"

This line is genius. It has three levels of comedy:

Level 1: "You took the Hamburgler's birthday off last Monday". Okay, mildly amusing; comedy 101.

Level 2: "You took the Hamburgler's birthday off last Monday *and* Wednesday." Much funnier.

Level 3: "You took the Hamburgler's birthday off last Monday *and* Wednesday. Which is it?" Now THAT is comedy.

An interesting article in SF Gate. The BART extension to SFO finally opened, and two reporters had a race from Rockridge to the airport, during commute time on a Monday morning. The race was from the BART parking lot to the United Airlines check-in line. The driver beat the BARTer by 9 minutes.

However it was significantly cheaper for the BART rider if you take into account long term parking at SFO.

It's a shame that the Bay Area is so lacking in public transportation. It's amazing it's taken this long for BART to link up with CalTrain.
