20 years ago I was: just getting acquainted with POPnet, a local BBS. (That's bulletin Board System for you newbies.) It was about to turn into a paid service and we all complained loudly (in on-line chat) about how outrageous it was that they were going to start charging us. I left for my family vacation right before DOP (Day of Payment) and when I got back I had to log in as guest until I forked over the money to become a Lifeliner (unlimited usage for $10 a month). I can't believe we thought it should be free. Punks!

15 years ago I was: getting ready for my freshman year at UC San Diego. I was working as a word processor at Longs Drugs and embroiled in summer romances.

10 years ago I was: getting ready for my first year of graduate school at Indiana University. I was packing my stuff (moving from a house to a small dorm room) and finishing up my job at PCSI, where I wrote test software for multiplexers.

5 years ago I was: working at Nuance, where I had just finished a 3-day project management course. We took tests to see what kind of working "style" we had and mine was "communicator": very focused on process and keeping relationships up. We were all split into our groups and, without being told what our group's characteristics were, told to come up with something interesting to present. Our group chose to sing "Love Train". The hilarious thing was that the group who was later described as being very independent and free-thinking failed to come up with a unified idea and did three different skits.

1 year ago I was: taking tennis lessons, going to the gym a lot, and buying tickets for our New Zealand trip.

Yesterday I was: eating a veggie burger and watching Footballers' Wives (BBC drama).
