Construction is being done on our building at work, so for the next two weeks I'm working at home. It definitely has its pluses and minuses. On the plus side, I ate lunch outside in my backyard! On the minus side, I'm home when telemarketers call. In fact, someone just called after I typed that. Not a telemarketer exactly, but a service that offers to paint your number on your street (for a fee of course). Is this a normal thing? I guess I always kind of figured it was something the city took care of, but apparently not.

In other news, my friend (and ex-boyfriend) Jamie has published a novel! It's called Dinonsyus Logged Out. It's somewhat based on the old chatroom POPnet we belonged to in the late 80s/early 90s. I joined when I was 13, in 1985, and spent much of my teenage years logged in chatting. It was a local BBS (Bulletin Board System) and most of the people who called in were between 12 and 20 years of age, and lived in the area. I met my first real boyfriend there (hi Jason!) and made a lot of friends I'm still in touch with today.

You can check out the first few chapters of the book on-line. It's not based on real events that happened at POPnet (no need to try and guess which character I am) but more on the general idea and what life was like then. Check it out!
