Here's a trailer for the upcoming Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie.

I haven't been this excited about a movie in years. Probably sincce Star Wars: Episode 1, which I actually waited in line for with my friend Alex. It was convienently during my week between jobs. Well, that was a major disappointment. (In retrospect, I don't see how it could not have been, no matter how good the film was. Star Wars was part of my childhood; it took on mythical proportions. How can you top it?)

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but I can't seem to help it. I'm hoping for a Lord of the Rings type coup. Not that I was a big fan of the novels, but it seems like most of the fans ended up pleased with the films.

Since Douglas Adams worked on the original script, I feel optimistic. And I know there are things in it that he himself added or changed from the original novel (which of course had things different than the original radio script), so I feel prepared that it'll be different.

This weekend we adopted another cat, a 4-month old male kitten. We named him Jemba, after Aston Villa soccer player Eric Djemba-Djemba--not that he's one of Chris's favorite players, but I just like the name.

We're keeping the cats separated for now, although we did let them greet each other last night. The adoption place suggested putting a scent on each of their foreheads (in our case, we used vanilla extract) so when they sniffed each other, they'd smell the same.

Well, Jemba has had no problem fitting in so far--he's already been a lot braver than Q*Bert and Max were when they first arrived. But Max is not pleased. He's been growling at little Jemba.

This is to be expected--I've heard it can take a while for the existing cat to accept the new one. But we hope in the long run it'll be for the best for Max. I think he's been lonely since Q*Bert died.

Welcome to your new home, Jemba!
