This weekend we went up to Tahoe with some friends. Being President's Day weekend, plus snow, we didn't get to the cabin until 4:30 AM. Saturday we tried cross country skiing at Royal Gorge. I'd never been, but it was pretty easy to get started.

Sunday we did downhill skiing. I used to ski, but in 2000 Chris convinced me to give snowboarding a try. I didn't go often enough to get much past the beginner stage, and on our last trip 2 years ago I had a miserable time, managing to fall off the lift every run. I vowed I'd never go back on the slopes. But this year I decided to go back--only on skis. It was a wise choice. I'm only a beginner skier, but I can get off the lift and ski down the bunny slopes without falling. Woo hoo!
