A couple of weeks ago we went to the Monterey Aquarium, which is a superb aquarium. We saw rock hopper and blackfooted penguins (they're currently housing some of the penguins from the New Orleans aquarium), sea otters, jellyfish, tuna, sharks, and octupi. I put a few pictures up on my Flickr account.

Last week we went to another aquarium--the Steinhart. It's being housed in a temporary location near the Metreon until renovations are completed on the new one being built in Golden Gate Park. Every third Thursday of the month they hold "Third Thursday," from 5 - 9 PM, with live music (or a live DJ) and cocktails. It was pretty cool to be there after hours, even though the African penguins were just getting ready for bed.
